    The American Folk Art Museum is home to the collection assembled over many decades by the Historical Society of Early American Decoration. The Society was founded in memory of Esther Stevens Brazer (1898–1945), a direct descendant of one of Maine’s pioneering families in the tin industry. The Society is dedicated to preserving the techniques of early American decoration in a variety of mediums through their own re-creation of historical forms and through the collection of original works, including decorated tin, furniture, and other objects, as well as stencils, tools, and ephemera related to the development of these arts in America.     This exhibition will include approximately 63 drawings and paintings by self-taught Alabama artist Bill Traylor. Traylor began making art near the end of his life, and his works are notable for their flat, simply defined shapes and vibrant compositions in which memories and observations relating to African American life are merged. Traylor is recognized as one of the finest American artists of the 20th century.

    The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in collaboration with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana will be hosting this exhibit. Photographs, costumes and performance regalia, film, oral histories, and the sound of castanets and taconeo will entertain and educate visitors. Special performances, film screenings, panels, and educational programs will continue through the spring and summer. Don't miss "The Dance, the Music, the Song"-a panel discussion with Sir Brook Zern, noted flamencologist and curators of the exhibit K. Meira Goldberg and Nina Bennahum on Thursday, March 28 at 6:00pm in the Bruno Walter Auditorium.

    It is that time of year again to put on your dancing shoes and come out to dance the night away at Lincoln Center's annual Mid Summer Night Swing. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will be playing on the opening night, tickets will be available May 22. Free dance classes from 6:30-7:30pm and performances begin at 7:30pm with two sets. Dancing under the starts is a wonderful way to spend a summer night in New York!
