walking tour
lincoln square: gateway to the upper west side

The
licensed guides of Big Onion Walking Tours
will be peeling back the historic layers of our fascinating
district with a six-month pilot program of speciallydesigned
twice-monthly tours. These are no ordinary tour guides:
every one is a graduate student at one of the city’s
top-ranked universities, specializing in history, sociology,
and related fields. They are also hard-core, devoted
New Yorkers, with knowledge and insights that will…
well, make you weep with joy.
Immerse yourself in Lincoln Square’s rich architecture
and social history while gaining a fresh perspective
on its recent transformation into one of New York’s
most sought-after areas. Stops could include Columbus
Circle, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Fordham
University, Time Warner Center, and sites associated
with Florence Mills, Mae West, Leonard Bernstein, and
Robert Moses.
The new historic walking tours are held at 2:00pm
on the first and third Sundays of every month, June
through October.
2008 Sunday Tour Dates:
June
15 | July 6 & 20 | August 3 & 17 | September
7 & 21 | October 5 & 19
