SANITATION

Clean and attractive streets and sidewalks are a priority for the BID, so twenty-five percent of our operating budget is allocated to keeping Lincoln Square spotless. The BID contracts with Atlantic Maintenance Company, which provides the employees who make up the Clean Team. Dedicated, loyal, hardworking, and committed to excellence—that’s the Lincoln Square BID Clean Team! Many of our Clean Team members have been working with the BID for four or more years, and they take pride in their work and in its positive impact on the neighborhood.

No matter the weather, 365 days a year, seven days a week, 13 hours each day, the BID’s nine-member Clean Team, operating out of a field location generously provided by Fordham University, is out in the streets sweeping, bagging trash, painting street furniture, removing graffiti, shoveling—you name it they do it, all to make the streets and sidewalks clean and tidy. And they don’t stop with street cleaning: our Clean Team also cleans the ten Broadway Malls several times daily, supplementing our Goddard Riverside crew’s efforts; waters plants and flowers with our portable tanks; and performs other maintenance tasks as needed in the district.

Clean Team Stats:
• 106 Trash receptacles cleaned and serviced daily.
• 60,000 bags of trash filled – that’s 775 tons of garbage bagged each year!
• 215 lampposts / 167 parking meters / 137 street sign poles painted.
• 70 fire hydrants and 67 catch basins cleared of snow during snow storms.
