Making
sure that Lincoln Square is a safe, friendly neighborhood
for visitors, residents, concert goers -- for everyone: that’s
the mission of the twelve experienced security officers, provided
by Spartan Security, Inc., who make up the BID’s security
team. They act as a uniformed deterrent to crime and are the
eyes and ears of the Police Department and the BID, patrolling
the neighborhood and notifying the police of any incidents
or problems in the district. They are also our Ambassadors
– trained to help you with information and assistance
when you visit Lincoln Square.
Security
officers use Patrol Scan – an electronic guard touring
system – and are equipped with two-way radios, enabling
them to communicate with each other and the BID office. Supervisors
carry the Interwatch radio, which provides a direct link with
the New York City Police Department. Security schedules are
continuously reviewed and modified to reflect changing circumstances
and events in the district and the city. Our security officers,
operating out of a field location generously provided by Ogden
CAP Properties LLC, patrol Lincoln Square for 16 continuous
hours, seven days a week.
Our security officers’ vigilance isn’t
confined to crime: they also identify and report on a variety
of street conditions – such as broken traffic and street
lights, non-working public phones, uncollected trash –
that affect the quality of life in the district. Any problems
related to City property are referred to the appropriate agency
and monitored closely until they are remedied.
The district has enjoyed a dramatic reduction
in crime over the past ten years, thanks to the dedication
of the 20th Precinct’s police officers, with whom our
security team works closely. We’re proud of the strong
relationship we’ve built with the New York City Police
Department and look forward to continuing our joint efforts
to maintain and improve security in Lincoln Square.
Our Security Officers
are here to make your visit and stay in Lincoln Square a safe
one. If you need assistance in finding a restaurant, a store,
or another destination, or if you need other assistance, look
for the Lincoln Square Security Officers throughout the district.
They will try and help you.
